The H Family

I have photographed the H family a couple of times before. E and T are two of the funniest little boys I've met. It was hard to get a serious face from them both, but I ended up with lots of great pictures in the end. I hope they got their surprise after they left!

Back in the Swing

I haven't had a session in a while. So, when asked to take pictures for the G family, I said, "Yes!" I haven't seen Wendy for quite some time and she now had 2 little children. It didn't take long for them to warm up to me because it was so HOT! I know Wendy was worried I did not get any good shots of the kids, but...I DID! Your kids are too cute and I actually got a real smile from C! Yay! Thanks for asking me to do your pictures and I hope you enjoy this little sneaky peek!

Engagement

So, one of my cousins asked me to shoot her engagement pictures. Graciously, she and her fiance traveled all the way from Kentucky for me to shoot them in Tennessee. This was my first engagement shoot. The week prior to their arrival was sunny and warm. Then, the rain came and cooled things down A LOT! I'm pleased with how the pictures came out and hope they are too. However, I know there's always room to grow, learn, and improve! Enjoy, R!

It's Been a While

It has been almost a year since my last post. I have been spending most of my time at my other job--teaching. With all of the new evaluations and laws implemented, photography has taken a back seat. However, in that time, I have also taken a private photography lesson and shadowed an awesome photographer, Brooke Kelly. (Check her out at www.brookekellyphotography.blogspot.com) Anyway, I have been busy taking photos again of my class, which I can't post, and of my friends' children. Case in point, mr. Sean. I have been photographing him since he was 9 months old. He was my first official guinea pig, or customer. It has amazed me at how much he has changed over these last 4 years. He's sooo stinking handsome! Just don't tell him I said so! Enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day. A day for celebrating those men and women who have fought for our freedom. One of those men was my father, James Powell. He died seven years ago from cancer, which is believed he got as a result of being in the Vietnam War. He served in the Marines, which is why he raised us with a firm, but loving hand. There aren't many days that go by which I don't think of him. So, this is my tribute to him and his service. I took these pictures of my niece, his first grandchild he never got to see, at the Veterans' Flag Memorial over at the Avenue in Murfreesboro this weekend. I know he was watching her play among the flags in honor of the veterans, like himself, who gave their blood, sweat, tears, time, energy, and lives to protect ours. Miss you Daddy and happy Memorial Day!

Long Overdue Post

Well, it has been over 6 months since my last post. Life has had me so busy during that time too. I stopped taking pictures suring that time as well. My heart wasn't in it. However, I took a private photography lesson about a month ago and learned lots of new things. It also renewed my spirit about photography and I've been taking more pictures.

So, my friend Wendy asked me to take their family portraits again. Last time it did not work out so well. This time, after my private lesson, I felt more successful. One step at a time!
