Gentry Family
It's been almost 2 years since I've seen the Gentry family. The kids have grown up so much! I worked with mom several years ago at an elementary school. This time they brought dad with them and we took family portraits. The kids did a great job of doing what I asked of them. I hope you like your pictures, Gentry's. They're in the mail as we speak!

Sean Spring '13
Well, as Sean's mom reminded me, it was that time of year. Time to take Sean's pictures. This time he was more of a ham than usual. It became a battle of wills--whose will would overtake the other. I think we ended on a draw. LOL! I'm glad I was able to get some good shots of him with his mother. For once, she actually approved of the picture of herself! Enjoy!

Good friends, Good times
Last week, I had the opportunity to shoot my great friend Lisa and her son, Ethyn. I haven't seen him since he was 5 and somehow he's now a 5th grader. He's such a handsome boy and was happy to see me. I was happy to see them both as well. She wanted pictures for their Christmas cards and the pictures turned out GREAT. We're definitely going to need to get together again soon.

Sizemore Family
This weekend I took pictures of one of my former coworkers and her family. She always made coming to work fun and I miss her every day. I was more than happy to take pictures of her family. She wanted me to focus more on the kids with a few family shots. She was worried her 3 year old son would be a problem, but he wasn't. I have a way with little boys 1-8 years old. Trust me! He did everything I asked of him and then some. Little sister, on the other hand, was a different story. Most of her pictures are of her backside as she was running away from me. However, I did get some great shots of her as well.

The L Family
I went to high school with this couple and the reason they had their beautiful daughter (long story). I'm so glad they thought of and called me to do some family pictures of them. I haven't hung out with them for some years and we picked back up right where we left off. Their kids are so cute and photogenic! I couldn't decide on a couple to post. So, I just posted a little bit of everything. Love them and their kids! Enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day. A day for celebrating those men and women who have fought for our freedom. One of those men was my father, James Powell. He died seven years ago from cancer, which is believed he got as a result of being in the Vietnam War. He served in the Marines, which is why he raised us with a firm, but loving hand. There aren't many days that go by which I don't think of him. So, this is my tribute to him and his service. I took these pictures of my niece, his first grandchild he never got to see, at the Veterans' Flag Memorial over at the Avenue in Murfreesboro this weekend. I know he was watching her play among the flags in honor of the veterans, like himself, who gave their blood, sweat, tears, time, energy, and lives to protect ours. Miss you Daddy and happy Memorial Day!

Long Overdue Post
Well, it has been over 6 months since my last post. Life has had me so busy during that time too. I stopped taking pictures suring that time as well. My heart wasn't in it. However, I took a private photography lesson about a month ago and learned lots of new things. It also renewed my spirit about photography and I've been taking more pictures.
So, my friend Wendy asked me to take their family portraits again. Last time it did not work out so well. This time, after my private lesson, I felt more successful. One step at a time!
